Sr. Customer Support Engineer — CODE: SCS

We are seeking an individual to provide technical assistance to users of the Datawatch Enterprise Product software through the technical support help desk phone, email and/or fax.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, diagnose and solve application usage issues by, in part, understanding application interaction with the computer operating system, underlying application database and integration middleware.
  • Record and maintain all customer issues and interactions in company's support database.
  • Identify and document product issues and client feature requests in the support database.
  • Assist Professional Services personnel in projects to configure clients' systems and sites.
  • Demonstrate ability to increase product knowledge through self-training, work with peers and experiences with customer issues.

Essential Education, Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working directly with customers in a technical support helpdesk environment.
  • min 2 years experience with complex web-applications
  • min 2 years experience with relational database systems, schemas, queries, stored procedures and strong experience in complex SQL statements
  • Proven success delivering high-quality service and support.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong network skills including TCPIP, use of PORTS, etc. as well as domain security systems knowledge including LDAP/AD.
  • Must be proficient on MS Office®, particularly MS Excel® for data manipulation, modeling and presentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; uses critical thinking skills to eliminate causes of problems and find solutions.
  • Programming/scripting skills a big plus
  • Familiarity with Java / Java concepts
  • Familiarity with mainframe computer generated reports and report data a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple issues at once.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
