Datawatch Corporation Announces Datawatch|BDS V7 for Centralized Enterprise Document Storage
Expanded Feature Set Helps Meet Growing Demands to Activate Document Content into Usable Information
Chelmsford, MA - August 29, 2007 - Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ-CM: DWCH), a leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM), today announces general availability of Datawatch BDS (Business Document Server) V7, the latest version of the company’s enterprise document archive, management, access and distribution software system. Designed to augment the already robust capabilities of the company’s current offering, Datawatch BDS V7 offers an impressive feature set to help enterprises manage business documents and drive more efficient operations.
Datawatch BDS is the standard for high-volume enterprise document capture, imaging, archiving and retrieval, capable of managing billions of documents from the point of initiation through to delivery. Addressing the need for centralized and comprehensive management of document images, reports, customer correspondence, statements and e-mail, Datawatch BDS acts as the archive and repository for these disparate document types, providing a single source from which static report-based data is automatically transformed into actionable and timely information for the right users across the enterprise. By adding other specialized Datawatch modules, organizations can leverage the versatility of Datawatch BDS for purposes such as document imaging, managing business process and workflow, and e-mail notification, distribution and management.
Datawatch BDS V7 adds several powerful new features including:
• Transform & Transform Manager – Users can convert commonly used AFP and Metacode documents to text for data mining. This powerful new feature also includes two-tier transformation; documents are converted to PDF format for display and then these traditionally static reports are turned into text to provide the basis for research, analysis and decision-making.
• eNotify – This Datawatch BDS module allows customers to leverage the investment in the underlying document archive by turning it into an active distribution mechanism. Once stored in the archive, an email to each intended recipient of the document is generated. This email indicates that the document is ready for distribution and includes an encrypted, embedded link to the document. The recipient simply “clicks on the link” and the document is securely delivered via the Internet. Uniquely designed to monitor the actual receipt of the document, Datawatch|BDS eNotify is an ideal solution to the problem of rapidly rising print and mail delivery costs, particularly in those industries where proof of delivery is a regulatory requirement.
• Web Client Functionality – New features have been added to the DatawatchBDS web-client that allow users to simply and easily email documents, statements, invoices and reports that are stored within the archive. Multiple documents may be sent in a single email, eliminating the “seven emails for seven documents” scenario found in other systems. Invaluable in a customer service situation, this feature provides the customer service representative with the ability to quickly and easily answer customer requests for information or copies of statements.
“DatawatchBDS, an important tool in our EIM solutions set, allows users to perform high-volume capture, management, storage and delivery of documents, reports and other unstructured data that make up the 85 percent of information in an organization that is not tucked away in a database,” said Harvey Gross, vice president, Enterprise Product Management and Development for Datawatch. “For many of our customers DatawatchBDS is the cornerstone upon which their document management capabilities are built. The powerful new functionality in Datawatch BDS V7 demonstrates our commitment to our customers by providing a highly flexible and easy-to-use centralized document management solution for making better business decisions.”
